La star di Shang-Chi e la Leggenda dei Dieci Anelli Simu Liu è in copertina dell’ultimo numero di Entertainment Weekly e la rivista ha anche presentato cinque nuove immagini ufficiali dell’imminente avventura MCU.
Due delle foto mostrano l’eroe titolare insieme ai suoi amici Katy (Awkwafina) e Jon Jon (Ronny Chieng), e sembra che si farà chiamare “Shaun” mentre vive e lavora negli Stati Uniti. Un’altra immagine mostra un giovane Shang- Chi che viene addestrato da suo padre Wenwu (Tony Leung), e abbiamo anche nuovi sguardi sul misterioso Xialing (Meng’er Zhang) e sul malvagio Razor Fist (Florian Munteanu).

Liu ha anche parlato al sito di interpretare un eroe asiatico-americano che è abile nelle arti marziali nel clima attuale.
“Ci sono due paradigmi che sono completamente in contrasto tra loro” , dice. “Uno è, come uomo asiatico americano progressista, ho sempre voluto infrangere le barriere e le aspettative su ciò che sono gli uomini asiatici ed essere molto consapevole delle condizioni in cui siamo messi: artisti marziali, aiutanti, esotici o orientalisti. E poi l’altro paradigma è, tipo, il kung fu è oggettivamente super f—ing cool. C’è un motivo per cui il kung fu ha preso fuoco e il mondo ne è diventato ossessionato, perché è incredibile da guardare”.
Shang-Chi e la leggenda dei dieci anelli sono interpretati anche da Michelle Yeoh e Fala Chen. Diretto da Destin Daniel Cretton, che ha anche scritto la sceneggiatura con David Callahan e Andrew Lanham, il film uscirà nelle sale il 3 settembre 2021.
